This is my second Five on Friday post and I just love this link up! Thank you so much to these fabulous bloggers for bringing this to us: Darci, Natasha, April, and Christina!

[ONE]

Hooray for me! I survived the first few days of the new school year without having a panic attack or any other type of major emotional breakdown! "Woo-hooo! Mom didn't have to really ruin the school year by getting locked up in the loony bin!" Totally kidding, but I am so thankful that my anxiety and worry has been more under control.

I have been super reflective this week. The kids went back to school on Wednesday. It was so hard not to worry about how their first day would be! (The kids did great and each of them had a good day!) Prayer and journaling helped tremendously. I came to the conclusion that I need to stop fearing change.

Was I sad to see my oldest start high school? Yep. Did I bawl my eyes out after I dropped all the kids off? Yep. Snot and tears were a flyin', but after a few minutes I felt so much better! I truly do love this season of my life. Letting go of the anxiety and worry that I feeling was so freeing!

[TWO]

Back to school means yummy after school snacks! Apple crisp is one of my kids all time favorites and is so easy to make! They were thrilled to come home to this yesterday!

Here is my recipe:

Ingredients

Filling:
6 medium size granny smith apples
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 cup of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon  cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla

Topping:
1 cup white flour
3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup of granulated sugar
1 stick of salted butter

*My kids love the topping so I double the above topping ingredients and add it to the standard amount of apples.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Peel and core apples, then slice into slices. Mix apples with the rest of the filling ingredients, then add to baking dish.

In a separate bowl, mix all of the dry topping ingredients together. Melt butter then add to dry ingredients.  The mixture will be lumpy and sticky. Spoon onto the top of apples.

Bake for 20 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream to make it extra delicious!

[THREE]

I am obsessed with these pants! I rarely wear pants. Dresses and skirts are so much more comfortable!

But I do believe that I would wear THIS pair and I would call them my fancy pants and feel quite fancy while wearing them.

[FOUR]

My husband is funny, without even trying to be. Last night at dinner Jerry was saying Grace and right in the middle of prayer he says "Thank you Lord for football. We are so grateful that football season is officially underway". He was entirely serious. I cracked a surprised laugh because it caught me so off guard! You better believe that I received crusty looks from him and my son. I love football season, I just didn't expect to hear that included in our dinner prayer!

[FIVE]

I just love getting actual mail. Stationery and fabulous pens are two of my all time favorite things! Sending and/or receiving a thoughtful note is such a lovely and kind experience. I wish that everyone would send more snail mail. I am thinking of posing a challenge for myself to send X amount of notecards within X amount of days .

When I come up with the details of the actual challenge I will share them with you in case you want to join in too! Stay tuned!

I just adore these Tickled Pink notecards from Kate Spade!

Have a very lovely Friday, friends!
