Work events or parties that require employees to step up their work wear, can be a bit overwhelming to say the least. You don't want to overdress, or under dress, be inappropriate, or look like a fuddy duddy, all while being paranoid that your boss will not approve of whatever you choose to wear.
We had a work event yesterday (and another one tonight). I stuck to my standard work party formula: Choose a simple dress that is either made of jazzy fabric (think silk, satin...) and/or has a LITTLE bit of embellishment, by embellishment I do NOT mean "wear a sequin dress to your work party", pair the dress with classic heels that are a solid color (no multicolored platforms), and a classic bag.
Keep your overall look simple and you will be right on point for your event, this way your employer will notice YOU, not your inappropriate outfit.
Working in a fun industry allows me to add some of my personality to my look with accessories. While wearing loads of bracelets is applauded at my office, it may be quite frowned upon at yours. Only attempt the arm party if you are 100% certain that bangles a la 1983 Cyndi Lauper is acceptable at your work place.
