As a makeup artist I am often asked how I get my makeup brushes so clean. I have perfected my cleaning technique over time. The cleaning method that I use is cost efficient, anti-bacterial, and is much cheaper than purchasing traditional makeup brush cleaner. This method is also good for your makeup brushes!
Take your brushes from dirty and disgusting
to clean and back to looking brand new quickly!
- I LIGHTLY spray my brushes with olive oil cooking spray (a little goes a long way) and then let the brushes sit for about 10-15 minutes. I use Western Family brand as it is the cheapest here locally.
- Next I fill my sink with warm water and add Dawn brand dish soap to the water. I also put a drop on each brush.
- This is when I dip the top of each brush (cleaning one at a time) into the soapy water while rubbing the soap into the brush fibers to clean it until all of the oil and makeup is removed.
- Now I rinse each brush with hot water, reshape, and then let dry.
The oil allows for the makeup to release from the brushes quickly and the dish soap removes the oil while sanitizing the brushes. You will be surprised how easy, effective, and quick this method is!
